Sharing & Collaboration
IPSE GO distinguishes itself from comparable applications in the field by being a web-based solution that requires no installation. One of the key benefits of web technologies is their accessibility across multiple devices, as well as the ease with which resources can be shared.
IPSE GO provides several options for sharing process simulation projects with others. Some of these sharing methods support real-time collaboration, enabling multiple users to work on the same flowsheet or allowing stakeholders to contribute data from their specific areas. The central tool for managing access and sharing is the share dialog, as shown in Figure 1.
Currently, only the owner of a project can share it. This restriction prevents users who have been granted access from sharing the project with additional users. |
Group Shares
Group shares offer a way to share a project with a defined group of users within IPSE GO. This feature establishes a many-to-many relationship, where every member of a group has read and write access to the projects shared with that group.
At present, it is not possible to share a project with a group in read-only mode. If you wish to provide read-only access, consider using a Link Share instead. |
Groups can be created either from the group overview page or directly from the project share dialog by specifying a group name. For users to gain access to group projects, a group administrator must first invite them. Once the invitation is accepted, the shared projects will appear on the recipient’s project page alongside their own projects. Refer to Groups for more information.
All users who wish to edit a shared project via a group must hold a valid license. If the owner of a shared project does not have an active license, it is still possible for other licensed group members to edit the shared project.
Link Shares
Link shares allow projects to be shared through a unique URL. This method currently supports read-only access. Anyone with the link can view the project by opening the URL in a browser—no login is required if global access is enabled.
The link share address differs from the URL displayed in the browser when editing a project. The link share provides access to the project as long as it remains active. |
Link shares can be configured in the following ways:
-
Activation & Deactivation.
A link share can be activated or deactivated at any time, allowing temporary suspension or resumption of access. -
Restricted & Public Access.
Determines whether the link can be used by individuals publicly who do not have an IPSE GO account. This is particularly useful for sharing final project results with external stakeholders. No license is required to access a link share. By default, the link share is restricted to users with a valid account.
Please exercise caution when distributing a link share. Anyone who knows the URL will have read access to all project data.
To publish a project on a personal or organizational website, create a publicly accessible link share. For additional configuration options, refer to Embedding Projects. |
